I am returning to Ghana after 15 years to bring my first order of Calabash drums for those who want to be initiated into this powerful spiritual instrument. This is an exciting new project and would love you to be part of it and involved from the beginning.

As my first journey, I am bringing a limited number to introduce them to the global community. You can pre-order your Calabash drum by placing a deposit to secure it.

As a multi-percussionist trained in West African traditional drumming, I play a large variety of drums. The Calabash is for me one of the most powerful sounds and also enjoyableanimal-free to connect with. It is also 100% animal free as it is a vegetable. After playing it in many medicine music circles it has drawn big attention in the rhythmic scene. Hence my journey to Ghana to start supplying my range of Calabash drums to the community.

Origin

The Calabash is an African hollow gourd played in the North of Ghana by women as a drum and in Mali and Senegal accompanying the Kora and Djembe players.

Spiritual Meaning

Calabash is the embodiment of Women’s Mystical Power, the ability to control physical and spiritual forces, to create life through procreation and the sustenance of life.

Spiritually represents the cosmic womb of creation and playing this drum opens a direct channel to the flow of divine creative power.

Complete this form with your details. You will shortly receive an email the details to transfer a deposit of £100 (plus transaction fees) to secure your order. The remaining is to be paid before shipping the Clabash . The final price for the Calabash is not set yet and will be based on costs and taxes but it is estimated to cost between £140 - £180 (plus shipping costs). Estimated arrival will be in April/May.

Your donation will help me pay for flights, accommodation, internal travelling, teachers and elders fees, and technical support (sound and video). Part of the trip will be travelling to the villages to meet elders to document the history of the Calabash directly from the source. The research and documentation will be part of an introductory course on the history and playing of the Calabash.
