These in-person circles invite women to reconnect with rhythm as a pathway to grounding, expression, and shared presence.
Using calabash, shakers, body rhythm, and gentle movement, we explore vibrant rhythms inspired by traditions of the African diaspora while weaving in feminine elemental ritual.
Each gathering creates a welcoming space where rhythm becomes a shared language — supporting creativity, vitality, and connection between women.
You are welcome to attend individual circles, join a series of four, or participate in the full eight-circle journey.
No musical experience is required.
All women are welcome.
Across the eight circles we explore rhythms of the African diaspora through the lens of the four feminine elements — Earth, Fire, Water, and Air.
Each element is explored across two gatherings, allowing us to first connect with the rhythm, and then deepen the experience through movement, listening, and collective groove.

Rhythm has been used for centuries across cultures as a tool for connection, healing, and collective expression. In recent years, scientific research has also begun to explore the positive effects of drumming and rhythmic practices on wellbeing.
Participating in rhythm circles has been associated with:
• reducing stress and anxiety by regulating the nervous system
• supporting emotional release and expression
• improving focus, memory, and cognitive function
• encouraging deep relaxation and better sleep
• increasing feelings of connection and belonging
• stimulating the brain through synchronised rhythmic activity
When people drum or move rhythmically together, the body naturally begins to synchronise with the collective pulse, which can create a powerful sense of grounding and shared energy.
In the Calabash Rhythm Circles, rhythm becomes a gentle yet powerful pathway to reconnect with the body, the breath, and the natural rhythm of life.

The calabash is a traditional instrument used in many West African cultures, created from the dried shell of a gourd and played with the hands to produce deep, resonant rhythms.
Its sound carries a warm, earthy quality that naturally supports grounding and collective rhythm-making. In many communities, calabash rhythms accompany gatherings, celebrations, and shared storytelling.
Through my connection with rhythm traditions in Ghana, the calabash has become an important part of the circles I hold. Its simple yet powerful sound invites participants to reconnect with the natural pulse of the body and the shared rhythm of the group.
In our circles, the calabash becomes more than an instrument — it becomes a bridge between rhythm, presence, and collective energy.
No previous musical experience is needed to join. The rhythms we explore are accessible and welcoming for everyone.
